Abstract

Astrology gives insights into what the financial storm of 2007
is likely to lead to. One year on, it is all coming true.

It was not a good week for Kathleen Corbet, President of the Standard
and Poor’s credit rating agency on Wall Street who found her employment
terminated with immediate effect last week.

As Saturn, master of time and destiny, and also the reality principle in
the solar system, moves into Virgo, the ending of the speculative
bubbles that arose while Saturn was in Leo are definitely set to come to
an end.

So suddenly the financial markets wake up to the shocking news that the
‘masters of the universe’ on Wall Street slicing and dicing mortgage
loans as securitised bonds may well have passed onto them semi worthless
investments.

And ratings agencies like Standard and Poor seemed to have been caught
out by the sleight of hand involved in this most modern of three card
tricks where you have to ‘find the lady’ or in this case the duff
mortgage loan.

As September opens no one is quite sure who has bought what, and that is
the point. Rumors and gossip swirl, German banks being bailed out, the
Bank of England loaning a billion here a billion there to major British
banks, Goldman Sachs putting up 3 billion to bail out a subsidiary, the
European Central Bank putting $100 billion into the markets for
liquidity on one day…the list grows and the story goes
the market for mortgages in the US was temporarily on hold as the banks
decided the only people they could safely lend money to were governments
not other banks or individuals.

It may all blow over of course. We were apparently here in 1998 when a
major hedge fund had to be bailed out by the Federal Reserve. But
the contagion this time around is more of an unknown quantity though for
how much longer remains to be seen.

Saturn represents the bottom line, the underlying reality, the necessary
constraints and limitations caused by living in the material world while
Virgo rules the workplace, industry, working practices,
the health of individuals and of the planet itself.

So another sure result of Saturn’s residency in Virgo for the next 30
months is that the issues of pollution, purity of foodstuffs,
contamination, allergies, global warming and climate change are certain
to shoot up the political agenda even if former Vice-President Al Gore
had not already put them up there with this film.

Those readers of a virtuous nature may not quite comprehend my summoning
up the atmosphere and mood at the end of an all night party to describe
where we find ourselves as Saturn moves industriously into Virgo.

All through the night it was possible to dream of setting the world to
rights, partners looked glamorous and irresistible, there seemed to be
no end in sight to the festivities…you may well have been there, dear
reader.

Suddenly dawn is breaking through the windows, there is an air of
staleness in the room, windows need to be thrown open, there is debris
all around and only the most determined clean-up can restore the former
order and glory of the surroundings.

That is precisely how the world looks as Saturn ploughs on into
September and beyond, we know something has changed, no one is quite
sure what.

Just watch the changes proceed with an almost inevitable mechanical feel
to them. So obvious it had to be like this, but no one dreamed
it would actually happen, the laws of cause and effect seemed to have
gone into at least temporary suspension.

Then suddenly it is wake up time.

Welcome to the 21st Century. Are we witnessing the first seismic
movements that herald the shift of power and influence, money and
glamor, to the East where the mighty ancient empires of China and India
are awakening to a new revitalized power?
